Glen Echo Park
On Saturday evening (10/25/08) my husband and I went to Glen Echo Park to go to an art opening at the Popcorn Gallery. Glen Echo Park is a fabulous place to visit there are many galleries and art studios. Also there is a lot of history there...
When we arrived to go to the show, we saw a large beautiful carousel from 1921. The park ranger gave us a tour of the building and gave us some history about the carousel. Then we ventured over to the Popcorn Gallery to see the amazing photographs of Roosevelt Island by Anthony J. and Megan D. Peritore. It's really hard to believe that there is so much wildlife on this little island on the Potomac across from Georgetown next to the Key Bridge. My husband and I enjoy going to Roosevelt Island to hike and have a picnic on the first spring day or a warm day in the fall. I definitely recommend seeing this show and checking out Glen Echo Park. We also took a peek at the swing dancing in the ballroom which is open to the public with lessons on the weekends.
